New to newer Pokémon games -need help understanding some things
Hello,
Pokémon Uranium is the first Pokémon game I have played since Yellow/Red/FireRed. I am encountering many Pokémon for the first time and am enjoying the experience.
I am trying to figure out a few things. I tried looking through the Wiki pages, but could not find information.
How does breeding work? I know you go to the Daycare --but beyond that, I'm not sure how to match up types or how to predict results.
How do you participate in the Wonder Trade/the other kind of trading? How does it work?
I noticed that, on the top floor of Pokémon centers, there is a virtual battling area after talking to the lady on the right where you can battle other trainers over the internet. Is there a guide on that? I'm not sure how that works.
I'm sorry for all the questions. I'm really new to this. I'm hoping to meet new people and continue enjoying the experience of playing. (I'm currently stuck on the puzzle in the Vinoville gym --I know what you need to do, but am having a lot of difficulty following the movement because it is so fast --yay, neurological issues. But I'm writing down each step, so I will get it eventually. )

if you want to breed a pokemon just put a ditto and the pokemon you want in the daycare.
the egg there is comming out is always the other pokemon, not ditto .
if you want to wonder trade its just a random trade with an another trainer but most of the pokemon in there are useless
you can use GTS or so to trade pokemon you want, but you need the pokemon the other want to.^^
and i did not done pvp , so i cant say somethink to that
hope i coud answer your questions a little bit

Well, for comprehensive Pokemon information, searching on Bulbapedia is what I usually recommend. Uranium is somewhat intended for experienced Pokemon players, but there's no reason anyone with less experience can't play!
Besides Ditto, Pokemon can breed with others in their same egg group. If you take a look at the various pages on the Uranium wiki (here's a link to the full list of Pokemon), you can look at each Pokemon's page and see what egg group they belong to. For example, Orchynx is in the Grass and Field egg groups, so it can breed with any Pokemon in either of those.
Naturally, you have to breed a male and a female Pokemon, and the resulting egg will always be of the mother's species. There's more complex mechanics as well, like move and stat inheritance, but that's the basics.
Wonder Trade is a random trade with another player. Yeah, there's a tendency to get common Pokemon since a lot of people try it out early on and just dump whatever in. We're thinking of putting a badge restriction so there'll be more of a variety by the time trainers can use it.
The Virtual Trainer is pretty cool, it's a way to make a copy of your team and a personalized trainer and, by giving out your online ID number, people can then battle that team. It's very cool!

I can't see this feature preventing people with badges from wonder trading unimpressive pokemon. Personally I say, leave it as it is. Wonder Trade feels equal parts gambling and charity, depending on what the player has been putting there. If a player doesn't want to leave things to chance, he'd be better off using GTS and negotiating with other players in the forum.Mercury45 wrote:Wonder Trade is a random trade with another player. There's no limit to how many times you can wonder trade a pokemon anyway so you can just repeatedly use the useless pokemon you're getting as bargaining chips until you come across a good one. Is that shrewd? No. Logically, if you're putting bad pokemon, it means you're in need of a good one and if you're putting good pokemon, it means you have enough.
...
Hello, Sheenar! I hope that you'd have a good time with this game. I sure am having one. Don't be ashamed to buy and use your potions! Good luck!

I'll be honest, the badge restriction will not prevent the "junk trades". I can cite the real wondertrade as evidence. As more people play, more will progress further in game, and might learn that using the junk trade tactic only makes it more likely they'll get something they won't enjoy too. The whole "great minds think alike", but more just people think alike.
Why not have it set to "hey you have to have seen X amount of pokemon to Wonder Trade", putting it at a low amount, maybe around the amount you can see right before beating the first gym, aside from evolving pokes.
On second thought that idea is stupid, but honestly the gym badge idea doesn't change it. Just like with the GTS, you'll find people putting up a pidgey and asking for a Mew
