Regional Tournament Theme

Not sure if the Regional Tournament has a lot of work done on it so far, but wouldn't it be awesome to have the Tandor Regional Tournament be themed after the World Cup?

The music, the design for the championship area, a lot of the details would look really cool if it's themed similar to Brazil's love for Soccer.

The trainers you fight, some from other countries.

Additionally, with the Regional Tounament replacing the Elite 4 for the most part, it'd be interesting to see some of these Regional Tournament hopefuls across the region, even meeting last year's champion.

Honestly I was sad to hear that we won't be able to have a Champion, so I'm also proposing that at the end of the Tournament, you have a "ceremonial battle". At the end of every Tournament since the Inception of the system, the winner of that year's tournament fights against the prior year's Champion.
You don't need to beat the prior Champion to still enter the Hall of Fame. Though you still get something for beating the former Champion.

It'd certainly make the whole thing more interesting. Say you see on TV an ad early on in the game about a trainer sponsored by Silph Co.
The whole Tandor Region and many people from around the world are watching, and your winning team will be memorialized in the hearts of many.

I can't speak for the rest of the tournament, but this is already in the game. In fact, if you've played any significant amount of Uranium, you've already fought last year's champion!

It's okay, no big spoilers or anything. If you've beaten the first gym and talked to people in the city, you'll find out that Gym Leader Maria was actually last year's champ!

Ohhh. I saw Maria on the wiki page and went "wait wasn't that the first gym leader" "how the hell did such a lazy girl, and a normal type trainer become champion"

she gave her enemies some gold to get the champion

Lol... well obviously the team that Maria uses in her Gym was not the same team she used to win the championship! She used her earnings as Champ to open up the Gym and now lives an easy, lazy life since she achieved her goal while still very young. Of course, she's new to being a Gym Leader so she doesn't take it very seriously.

In response to your suggestion, we are already planning on something very similar for the Elite Championship, with many faces reoccurring from all around the region. As for the stadium, that's already been decided: the Elite Championship takes place over an active volcano! (Mt. Actinite to be precise)
