Renaming of Mystery Gift pokemon

It currently seems to be unable to rename the pokemon received through mystery gift, and I was curious if this is intentional or not. I like to rename all of the pokemon on my team, and I'd really love to use these nice shiny pokemon dropped through mystery gift, so I'm at a point of conflicting intentions. Is this intended to be the case where you cannot rename them, and is there any way to change that in the future if it is unintentional?

Mystery Gift pokemon have always been considered 'traded' in game terms, and thus get increased EXP...but cannot be renamed.

Lame. I've only every gotten torchic in Pokemon X through mystery gift, so I wasn't sure.
