Daycare/Breeding

Is the only pokemon daycare/place to breed on Route 08, so once the power plant has gone up there is no way to breed?

Nope, there is one on Route 09, just east of Legen Town.

Okay thanks JV, never even made it to route 9 on my first run through either.

Also, sorry to pester you but are eggs made depending on the amount of steps or they produced in real time? How long does it roughly take? Or does that entirely depend on the breeds?

Every 256 steps the system attempts to generate one egg. The chances of the attempt being successful or not depend on the compatibility between the 2 pokémon deposited. If they really seem to like each other the chance that a egg will be generated in the first attempt is of 70%.

PS. The best place I've found to hatch eggs is in Legen Town, near the southern exit (which currently doesn't function) there is a long stretch of land, riding back and forth across it on the bicycle is a good way to get a lot of steps quickly.

Ironically the longest stretch of land in the game is in Route 08 and the second longest is in Vinoville, and both are inaccessible leter in the game. However Nowtoch and Silverport have some decent stretches too.

The two areas I mainly use to hatch eggs are the one that Twitch just mentioned and the one in silverport that borders on route 16 Another way to hatch eggs if you're not too worried about how long it will take but also want to level up some pokemon is by going from the water right of rochfale (route 5?) and making your way back and forth between there and the paths to snowbank

Man, feel pretty bad for my ditto right now "I don't know how it happened" but he's played his part in producing a variety of eggs with a variety of partners.

What would happen to Pokemon left at Route 8 Daycare after the events when you get 4th badge?
Do they stay there on route 8, soaking up radiation?

Nope, they are transferred to the Route 09. It's the same daycare, they just moved to another route after the incident.
