down key is not responding

I downloaded this today and when i booted it up, everything seemed okay. However when I reached the screen where I can choose between regular and nuzlocke mode I can't seem to switch between the two modes. When I select regular mode, when I can choose what I need info on I can't select from the options because the down arrow key is unresponsive. Thanks for any help and thanks for making this game!
