[Pokemon] S51-A

Ah, S51-A. This Pokemon is (in my experience) a bit of a hit-and-miss. Although it's week to the very common Fire, Dark, and Ghost types...that's pretty much it. Also, it's stats could lend it to either sweeper or wall, with it's 115 Special Attack, and 90 in both defenses. However, since it's speed is only 75, it does lean towards walling or tanking.

And here's a possible Mega set (because if I recall, the Terrestrial Forme is MUCH faster):

Evs: 4 HP, 252 SPATK, 252 SPE
Timid Nature
- Psychic
- Flash Cannon
- Laser Pulse
- Dark Pulse

DOOOOOD WHY TIMID IF YOU HAVE MODEST? AND MY S51-A HAS THE SAME ALL OUT ATTACK MOVESET PLUS THE SAME EVS! And Lv 100 so yeah...

Competitive pokemon are lowered to level 50

Timid over modest because with modest if it goes against Inflagetah, Pajay, Archilles, several other fast fire type sweepers that will be included in many people's teams, it will get out sped and OHKOd.

But even with Timid nature most of those others still outspeed

Timid Nature increases its total speed by 10%. This means after IVs and EVs are applied it is then increased by 10% of the total. Since most people will be going for Modest/Adament natures this means M-S51-A will be able to have enough speed to contest for first attack, whereas it has no chance without it

Not for every mon though, Mega Inflagetah/Mega Archilles will be a lot faster

Plus it will probably have enough attack after mega evolution where modest is unnecessary. Timid thus would be a better nature to prioritize its speed.

But Modest is not bad right? Timid is just a bit better?

Modest helps, but Timid is still a better nature in this case.

yeah but I think my S51-A can deal some real damage with 350 Sp. Attack, 250 Speed non mega

In Competitive the most it can have non-mega is 183 SpA and 139 Spe. Competitive drops your pokemon's level to 50. And there is a such thing as too much of one stat.

Timid is overall the best nature choice. The speed it gives allows more favorable match-ups. Modest can still work but it gives fewer favorably match-ups

One of the pokemon that could potentially be a good counter:
Metalynx

I was able to tank S51-A using an orchynx at lv 25, and on a separate playthrough a lv28 one. This was against the lv 40 S51-A, and I have no idea if it's stats are lowered, but still.

He has no EVs and bad IVs

Not to mention a really bad AI associated with it. S51-A and S51-AT on the VT are MUCH more threatening.

But Mega Metalynx still walls MANY things, albeit not my top counter to S51-A...
