Post by Brisingr Blaze 2015-05-16, 00:16

I've just gotten my fourth badge and will be making my way toward Amatree for my next badge. I'm currently at 38/61 in my Dex, and thought I'd see about getting some advice on my current team, and what I might should catch/replace on my team. (The Modrille and S51 are the ones that I got via Mystery Gift)

Thanks in advance for the advice.

I feel like getting rid of Harylect for a water type would really help (there's a lot of surfing coming up and Harylect isn't a very good Pokemon).

Any water type that you'd recommend? Especially any upcoming ones that I could get along the way?

You have to level up most of your pokemon cause you will have to fight with level 45 Seikamater to save Tiko the gym battle and evolve modrille into Driligann it evolves at level 38 then make it learn any rock type attack and earthquake and it should have learned drill peck then it will defeat most of his pokemon. Use moves which are strong against the opponent.

I knew I was under leveled, but didn't realize I was that badly under leveled. Definitely going to have to take some time and grind for some exp on my way. And I taught him drill peck, thankfully.

Don't worry, Seikamater, like all the overlevelled bosses, have crap stats if I remember right.

Yes but if he had low level pokemon there are chances of Seikamater defeating all of his pokemon in one hit and even it has a recovering move [Heal order].

I think it has it's actual base stats just without a move set to complement it.

If you lose to Seikamater there's a glitch that causes the event to happen anyway. So all you have to worry about are Tiko's level 40 Chimaconda, level 41 Pajay and level 42 Inflagetah (Inflagetah has really bad defense so just hit it with an Earthquake, which Modrille learns at level 33).

As for the water type suggestion, you could try blubelrog? It's a good special wall and has a decent movepool Smile

For other Water-types, both Tubareel and Brainoar both seem like fairly solid options, with Tubareel having incredible defense and Brainoar being Specially Defensive. There are also some decent Water-types after you get the 5th Badge, like Daikatuna or Krillvolver if you want to focus on offense. I think a lot of Pokemon in the later parts of the game are just way better than the earlier ones, so your team might change a lot as you progress Razz

EDIT: I looked at the wiki, and I don't think Krillvolver is obtainable now. But Syrentide is another fairly powerful Water-type option.

To be fair, most of the water types in this game are actually pretty good, so it mainly boils down to preference.

Glavinug is even good, typing issue but it is still pretty powerful. Heckler I think corsola and it's evolution are the only really "bad" ones.

Haha, I suppose XD And even Corsoreef is pretty bulky by in-game standards, so that combined with Recover makes you nearly immortal Razz I don't think it'd work as well competitively though XD

I'm still trying to make it good competitively. Maybe sharp coral with trick room. Why is it so hard to make good pass a wall with natural cure and recover?

I think I recall reading somewhere that there was a Fairy/Water typing? And that having a fairy type for the later gym would be useful.

Selkid and it's evolution is the water/fairy type.

The cool thing is that Sirentide (the water/fairy type and the evolution of Selkid) also has a Mega Evolution!

Sharp Coral? Is that another one of Corsoreef's abilities? Mine always had Natural Cure, so I don't know what that does Razz

Yeah, sharp coral is it's other ability and halves Corsoreef's defences and doubles it's attacks stats, unfortunately it still has abysmal speed, hence the trick room to let it go first Smile

Exactly, the speed is the only problem I have with the pokemon. I mean base 25 almost anything can outspeed it.

To train up your pokemon just call the ones who gave you their phone number they will call you for a rematch when you fight with them they will have pokes who will be compared to your levels.

I beat Seikamater with two Lava Plumes from my Pajay. I've leveled my team up some while in the Anthell.
