Can't mega evolve Empty Can't mega evolve

I can't mega evolve if i press z and press a move it go's a screen back or im doing it wrong please help want to mega evolve.

Theres a bug currently that prevents Mega evolution in Wild encounters. are you trying to mega evolve when fighting a wild pokemon or a trainer?
