[Pokemon] Blubelrog
Made in collaboration with FrunErbee
Base Stats: 105 HP/ 70 Atk/ 75 Def/ 105 SpA/ 115 SpD/ 65 Spe
Blubelrog @ Leftovers
Modest Nature
Clear Body
252 HP/ 252 SpD/ 4 SpA
At first I didnt really think much of this pokemon. Then I actually looked at its stats and move pool.
Blubelrog is interesting stat wise because it has high HP, high SpD, and high SpA, but low Spe. This means that it would get out sped by other sweepers, thus keeping it from filling the sweeper role. However, due to its 3 high stats, it is able to fill the role of pseudo-wall extremely well.
Surf is your STAB water move as well as covering the ground weakness. With 90 power and 100% accuracy you really cant go wrong with this move on a water type.
Sludge Wave is an extremely strong move for a poison type. With 95 base power and 100% accuracy along with STAB this move is going to hit hard with Blub's base SpA. It is also really good for taking out Fairy types.
Ice Beam is all around a powerful move. With 95 power, 100% accuracy, and good coverage, there is really no reason to not take this move.
Toxic allows Blub to deal consistent damage regardless of the typing of the enemy pokemon. It is good for facing a pokemon that is able to deal with Blub's damage.
Alternatives:
Protect allows Blub to stay around longer, allowing more damage to be dealt from toxic. This reinforces Blub's walling ability, with Leftovers healing more as well. This move is a great substitute for Surf. Ice Beam will still cover the ground weakness.

Actually, not exactly. Toxic increases the damage done steadily, and Leftovers heal you every turn. That is the basis of Toxic Stall...
Re: [Pokemon] Blubelrog
yeah okay but if you dont have those set up its useless and my s51a ohkos most of the blubelrogs

Please stop comparing everything to your team in particular. Just because it doesn't work against one pokemon doesn't make it useless.

Also wild Blubelfrogs have no EVs. EVs make a huge difference.

The assumption is that both will be EV trained when talking about the competitive scene...unless the other person was referring to NPC and wild Blubelrogs rather than other player's trained ones.
Re: [Pokemon] Blubelrog
Pretty sure he was referring to npc Blubs when stating that he ohkos them

252+ SpA Life Orb S51-A Psychic vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Blubelrog: 252-299 (60.8 - 72.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
This is a LO S51-A. Blubelrog eats that up considering it's a super effective, STAB, and LO boosted attack.

Re: [Pokemon] Blubelrog
Blubelrog is an archetypal bulky water-type. He has a great defensive typing, very high special defenses and has a wide movepool to take advantage of. Even some common threats to Water-types, like Gellin, will have trouble against him because he can take a T-Bolt and retaliate with a powerful Sludge Wave. He also decimates Syrentide, even Mega Syrentide.
A good counter against him is Metalynx, which resists both his STABs. His physical defense is definitely the weaker of his defensive stats, so Drilgann -- even in his non-Mega form -- can inflict some serious hurt with Earthquake before Blubelrog can get a Surf in. And a Psyshock from Dramsama will make quick work of him.

Re: [Pokemon] Blubelrog
Yeah, his weakness is definitely physical sweepers with Ground moves. Earthquake with STAB is a guaranteed OHKO, and might even be without. However, I still believe this pokemon is powerful enough to wall most of the SpA that would be used. Winotinger is definitely better as a Physical wall though.
